How We Give Back

Here at Blast we feel very proud and honoured to be able to showcase and be a part of some of Bristol’s remarkable charity work and local, independent business’ growth.

Being a local, independent company ourselves, we feel very strongly about giving back to the community and helping in any way that we can, so that charities and small businesses can benefit and raise as much money as possible.

Marathon Des Sables

In October 2021, Josh completed the ‘toughest race on Earth’, The Marathon Des Sables, to raise money for Walking With The Wounded.

Over just 6 days, Josh ran over 250km through the endless dunes, over rocky jebels and across the White-hot plains of one of the world’s most inhospitable environments – The Sahara Desert. You have to be self-sufficient and carry all of your own food and equipment for the week on your back.

Established in 2010, Walking With The Wounded supports a pathway for vulnerable veterans to integrate back into society and sustain their independence. At the heart of this journey is employment. WWTW recognise the inherent skills of our armed service personnel and want to compliment these qualities, as well as provide support to transfer their skills into the civilian workplace. Josh has raise over £10,000 for this fantastic charity. Team Blast are very proud!

Raj K Soni Org

The Raj K Soni Legacy Fund aims to raise money through sponsored events and donations in order to support and develop local young people through sport and music.

As a charity that is close to the hearts of Bristol, Blast have proudly donated a BBQ to this charity for the past 6 years for the ‘Longest Day Swim’ event at Portishead’s open-air pool and it shows no signs of stopping!

Abseiling Canonteign Falls Waterfall (220ft) for Children’s Hospice South West.

A 220ft abseil down England’s highest waterfall! The waterfall is situated on the edge of Dartmoor’s National Park, in the heart of Devon’s Teign Valley.

Josh and Emily from Blast Event Hire raised £500 for Children’s Hospice South West for their incredible abseil down Canonteign Falls, whilst conquering some fears of their own (Emily, not Josh!).

Café Revival’s Marathon in aid of National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS)

The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) is here to support all those living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) to allow them to live their lives to the full.

A very brave client of ours decided to run the London Marathon for his sister who suffers with RA. With the help of local Bristol businesses and suppliers, Mark was able to put on fundraisers pre-marathon to help in the fundraising for this worthy cause!

Blast were happy to donate a few sections of Picket Fencing to a fundraising ‘race night’, to help towards the great ambience of local companies coming together for a worthy cause.

London to Paris cycle in 24 hours in aid of Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund

Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is the only national charity dedicated solely to beating pancreatic cancer through research. With a 3% survival rate, more research is vital.

Josh and a few of his friends cycled an impressive 186 miles from London to Paris in just 24 hours. This is the furthest that any one of them has ever cycled (and definitely in the shortest amount of time!), however it is all in aid for a charity that is very close to each of their hearts. We’re not too sure if any of them will ever want to ride a bike again!

Charity Dinner In Aid of Footprints

This year we were part of a very special ‘Footprints’ charity event which was a ticketed dinner, with all money raised going towards buying essential medicines for South Africa. We dealt with Susanna, who is one of the very brave and generous GP’s who will be spending 6 months in South Africa. Susanna along with her husband who is also a GP have a vision to equip and run a medical outreach caravan offering life-saving medication to people in the towns of Johannesburg.

Blast were of course thrilled to help with such a worthy cause and donated some dinner party equipment to this event to help in the process of raising as much money as possible. The total amount raised was a fantastic £6440!

Laila’s 5th Birthday Party

Five-year-old Laila from Patchway was born with a hole in her heart. She has been in and out of hospital her whole life but this year faced missing her birthday while she recovers from open heart surgery.

The procedure saw Laila put on a life support machine while doctors stopped her heart to perform an intricate operation to prolong her life.

Earlier this year we received an email from Laila’s mother explaining that thankfully Laila was on the road to recovery and that they were holding a belated birthday party for Laila to make up for her missing her birthday and to celebrate her bravery. Blast were touched by this story and were more than happy to donate some LED furniture and Giant Outdoor Games to contribute to Laila’s party which was fit for a princess!
